1. The Challenge of Pivot Gap Physics & Intumescent Seal Activation
Standard hinged fire doors seal linearly against a deep rebate frame. In contrast, a fire rated pivot door rotates on an offset vertical axis, creating subtle top, bottom, and side tolerances. Under ISO 834 fire curves where temperatures exceed 1,000°C within 90 minutes, unsealed gaps cause immediate hot-gas breakout and catastrophic pressure failure.
To deliver true Information Gain and certified security, our engineering team developed a Tri-Layer Intumescent Thermal Barrier System. Concealed within the door profile perimeter, high-expansion graphite intumescent strips remain passive under ambient conditions. Upon reaching 180°C, the chemical core expands up to 30 times its original volume, forming an impenetrable solid carbonaceous char that seals all perimeter gaps, stopping radiant heat transfer and toxic cold/hot smoke.
2. Structural Integrity (E) & Thermal Insulation (I) Cores
Our fire rated pivot panels integrate a high-density, non-combustible perlite silicate board bonded to 140kg/m³ basalt mineral fiber. This composite resists warping under extreme thermal differentials, keeping unexposed surface temperatures below the strict 140°C average rise mandate required by UL 10C positive pressure and EN 1634-1 testing protocols.
